Public Speaking (July 5-9)

Friday, July 9, 2021

Hi Everyone!

Today was the last class for Public Speaking and WOW! I must say... I am seriously impressed with everyone's progress and I can confidently say that all students are now pro-public speakers! Congratulations!

Today we learned some helpful tips to de-stress and be confident before a big presentation. Students also got the chance to present their very own public speech in our first Explorer Hop New Channel Event! The event went fabulous! The students presented with confidence and ease and it was stellar. Well done everyone.

I wanted to thank both students and parents for an amazing week of camp. If you haven't already, I would highly recommend registering your child for Debate Junior Model UN. It is another fabulous public speaking style course that they would  100% excel in.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email. Look out for an email that will have your child's certificate for this course sometime today.

Thank you so much for everything, it was a pleasure to teach everyone and I hope to see you all in a future camp at Explorerhop.

- Marissa :)

Hello Everyone! Another amazing morning of public speaking class. It was great to see everyones smiling faces!

Today we learned how to build confidence before public speaking. We practiced a diaphragmatic breathing exercise and students learned the importance behind breathing effectively while public speaking. We also discussed public speaking bad habits to drop and the different types of speech patterns.

We also played a "filler free" challenge where students had to give impromptu mini speeches without using words "like...um...uh" and we began brainstorming topics for our speeches on Friday!

Tomorrow we will learn about all about Ted Talks and the importance of inspirational speeches. Students will also become masters at rhetoric/the art of persuasion and learn about Aristotle's Ethos, Pathos and Logos.

I look forward to tomorrows class! Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
