<< Back to Introduction: Where it all began Mira & Teyus in Ecuador. In the Rose Farm.

“Ouch! Something just pricked me!” complained Teyus.

“It’s a thorn! Ouch! I’ve been pricked too” grumbled Mira. Mira & Teyus in Ecuador, Map“I am positively happy that she does not drive anything bigger” stated Hari who was trying to remove himself from this thorny situation.

“Guys, look at all the roses!” exclaimed Mira.  As far as the eye could see there were neat rows of roses of every colour, shape and size.

“It looks like a rose garden of some kind” said Teyus.  He pointed up to the glass top.  “We are probably in a greenhouse.  How interesting!”

Mira pulled out the Anulap to see where they were “Bella Vista Rose Farm, Cayambe, near Quinto, province of Pichincha, Ecuador.  December 1, 1996.” Mira & Teyus in Ecuador. Note from trip to DaVinci Italy.“A rose farm! Why of course!” exclaimed Mira.  “That’s what the clue said, “Follow where there are more of me”.  This makes sense!”

“But what are we to do here?” asked Hari, now suspicious of any new adventure. Mira & Teyus in Ecuador. Roses from Ecuador sent to Canada“Ecuador is one of the largest producers of roses in the world.  I once read that the roses grown here in mountainous regions close to the equator are of a superior quality”, explained Teyus. “My dad was also saying something about Canada trading roses with Ecuador but I don’t really understand that”.

Not knowing what to do, they carried Luctus on their shoulders to make sure they did not disturb the flowers and made their way out of the greenhouse. The view outside was stunning.  The sun was shining above, the air was crisp and not so far away was a beautiful snow capped mountain. Mira & Teyus in Ecuador. Volcan Cayambe.“I wonder what mountain that is” thought Teyus, speaking out loudly but not really expecting a reply.

“Volcán Cayambe” came a reply from somewhere behind.

All the travellers jumped up to see who was speaking.  Behind them was a beautiful young girl dressed in pretty, traditional clothes.  The girl introduced herself as Maria.   Soon, she was chatting to Mira and telling them all about the volcano mountain in front of them and how they were almost standing on top of the equator.

She even invited them to join her and her brother for their trip to Quito, the capital of Ecuador. It was the “Fiestas de Quito” which was a gigantic party to celebrate the founding of the city almost 500 years ago!
